Apple Launches New COVID-19 Website And App With Screening Tool Included

Apple announced today that it has launched new COVID-19 website and COVID-19 app available on the App Store, both come with a new screening tool and set of resources to help people stay informed and how to protect their health during the spread of COVID-19, based on the latest CDC guidance.


The COVID-19 app and website allow users to answer a variety of questions regarding risk factors, recent exposure and symptoms for themselves or loved ones. In addition, CDC will provide advice on next steps, including advices on social distancing and self-isolation, how to closely track symptoms, whether or not a test is needed at this time, and when to contact a medical professional.

The app and website also provide access to tools to help people stay up-to-date and get the support they need. Users will receive responses to frequently asked questions about COVID-19, like who is most at risk and how to identify symptoms. Also, one can check on the latest up-to-date information from the CDC, such as best practice for hand washing, symptoms monitoring, etc.

You can also ask Siri for guidance and request resources from the CDC and there is a curated collection of telehealth apps available on the App Store.

It's worth to note that the new screening method is meant to be a resource for individuals and will not substitute recommendations from health providers or guidelines from state and local health authorities. Also, the the screening tool and resources is made for those who are 18 years and older.

As ever, Apple promises privacy and security is built-in the COVID-19 app and website with no sign-in required.
