iPad Pro 2020 Teardown Reveals The Tablet's Major Internal Upgrades

iFixit posted the iPad Pro 2020 teardown, the site found that most of the internal components of the iPad Pro 2020 are the same as the iPad Pro 2018 model, and the device is a fairly incremental update.

The most notable new feature inside the new "iPad Pro" is the LiDAR scanner, which can measure the distance of objects around five meters away and enhance the experience of augmented reality.

The repair site also evaluated the new A12Z Bionic chip, which includes an 8-core GPU, optimized thermal architecture and an improved performance controllers. Essentially, A12Z is a renamed A12X chip that has a GPU core enabled.

The iPad Pro 2020 USB-C port remains modular and can be replaced individually, but the adhesive is almost everywhere, making it nearly impossible to repair.

Overall, owing to the tablet's extremely poor repair procedures, it earned an iFixit repairability score of 3/10, which is the same as the 2018 iPad Pro.
