Apple Celebrates Earth Day 2020, Featuring Eco-Friendly Apps

Apple is celebrating Earth Day today by highlighting apps that aimed to celebrate and protect our planet in the Today section of the ‌App Store.

For example, Apple highlighted an app called Ecosia, which is a search engine that makes money through ads to plant trees and reverse the effects of climate change. An Apple Arcade game is also featured, "Beyond Blue." an open-world adventure title where players take on the role of Mirai, a marine biologist who explores a myriad of ocean life.

CEO Tim Cook also delivered his Earth Day message in a tweet today:
More than ever before, we can see the crucial role each of us plays in our collective wellbeing—for humanity and for our planet. Apple embraces this every day as we work to operate on clean energy and use fewer of the world’s resources—and we aren’t slowing down. #EarthDay2020
Apple also released a short Earth Day film narrated by Meryl Streep. "Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth," which tells the story of a seven-year-old child curious as to the wonders of the world. The film is now available for viewers to watch on Apple TV+.

Today, April 22nd, 2020, marks the 50th  anniversary of Earth Day. The theme for Earth Day 2020 is climate action.
