iPhone 11 Was The Best-Selling Smartphones In Q1 2020, Report Says

Research firm Omdia has released a new report that the iPhone 11 has succeeded the iPhone XR as the most popular smartphone in the world due to sustained, impressive sales in the first quarter. Apple sold 19.5 million iPhone 11 units worldwide in the first quarter.

In the report, Omdia researchers said that despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, iPhone 11 sales have expanded by 6 million units compared to the iPhone XR in the same period in 2019.
"For more than five years--even amid shifting conditions in the wireless market and the global economy--one thing has remained consistent in the smartphone business: Apple has taken either the first or second rank in Omdia's global model shipment ranking," said Jusy Hong, director of smartphone research at Omdia. "Apple's success is the result of its strategy to offer relatively few models. This has allowed the company to focus its efforts on a small number of products that appeal to a broad selection of consumers and sell in extremely high volumes."
As can be seen from the table, the iPhone 11 sales far exceed other smartphones, which are consistent with last year's iPhone XR, and the lead is more evident. It is worthy of note that the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max were all ranked in the top ten in the list, while the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max released in 2018 didn't even make the list in the corresponding time last year.

The researchers also praised the pricing of the iPhone 11 and said that this contributed to the increase in iPhone sales. Apple currently sells the new iPhone SE (from $399), iPhone XR (from $599), iPhone 11 (from $699), iPhone 11 Pro (from $999), iPhone 11 Pro Max (from $1,099), which basically covers All prices from entry to high-end.
