iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Users Complain Over Screen Tinting After Unlocking Their iPhones

iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max users are experiencing issues with the Liquid Retina and Super Retina XDR display colors. When users unlock their iPhones and use their devices for a few seconds, the display on the iPhone turns to a green hue. Many iPhone users have posted their iPhones with the issue side-by-side, with the before and after images on Reddit.

iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro users claimed that the green tint on the screen is visible a few seconds after unlocking the iPhone with Face ID or the passcode. A few cases displayed the issue only if they are using the iPhone in a dark environment and with the Dark Mode and Night Shift features turned on. Some users also have the same problem when the iPhone is set on the lowest level of brightness, which also contrasts with the claim of viewing the iPhone in dark environments. This does not include the display accommodations set by the user in Accessibility settings on iPhone.

The issue might have been present in the latest public iOS 13.5.1 update, which rules out the cause of the issue as part of the iOS software itself. It only happens when the iPhone is in a dark room or during the night and with the features that help users easily look at the screen. Certain cases point out that the issue goes away with restarting the iPhone, but in most cases, the screen tinting continues to persist. Nearly all of the cases are from iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro users, but there were also a few users complaining about the screen tinting on the iPhone X as well. iOS versions from 13.4.1, 13.5, and 13.5.1 are all the versions with the issue occurring on these iPhone models. Apple will be addressing the issue in the next public iOS 13.5 updates, while iOS 13.5.5 is currently only available to beta testers.
