Dark Sky App On Android Will Be Discontinued On August 1, APIs Later Of This Year

In March of this year, Apple acquired the popular weather app Dark Sky, with the purpose of enhancing the Weather app. Following the acquisition, Dark Sky at the time stated that the Android app would be discontinued on July 1, 2020.

Well, at the last minute, Dark Sky developers announced that the discontinuation of their Android app will be delayed and the app will continue function until August 1, 2020.

The Dark Sky Android app will be shuttered on August 1, meaning Android users will no longer be able to use it. Nevertheless, subscribers who are active at that time will receive a full refund.

Dark Sky also plans to shut down the weather forecast, maps, and embedded content provided on its website on August 1. Dark Sky has previously stated that its API will continue to operate by the end of 2021, but no new API registrations will be accepted.
