Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo issued his latest research report, claiming that one of the iPhone 12 (non-Pro models) camera lens suppliers has quality problems. However, if Apple's other major suppliers can make up for this problem, this is unlikely to have an impact on the iPhone 12's launch schedule.
Kuo pointed out that Genius Electronic Optical found that the entry-level 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch iPhone models' 7P wide-angle camera lenses had film cracks, it occurs during the high temperature/high humidity (HTHH) test and will cause a delay in providing replacement components for those iPhones.
Another supplier of lenses is Largan Precision, the company has not encountered any quality problems, which notes that Apple will be able to give priority to Largan to comply with its release schedule.
At last week's earnings call, Apple confirmed that the iPhone 12 lineup will be launched "a few weeks later" than usual.
However, even if the release is delayed, all the expected 4 models may not be available at the same time, because a recent report stated that the launch of the new iPhone will be divided into two stages. The two 6.1-inch models will be launched first, while the 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch models will be launched at a later date.
