iOS And iPadOS 14 Beta 7 Changes And Features

iOS 14 beta 7 features new Dark Mode wallpapers, more narrowed down App Library categories and a bug fix for the AirPods banner. It is almost the public release of iOS 14 as September is already here but without any information about the upcoming September Apple event, which concludes with all of the biggest features and changes in the iOS and iPadOS 14 beta testing season. Apple has also pushed out its last newsletter in Feedback Assistant for this special, significantly different and shorter iOS beta testing season.

First and foremost, there are new Dark Mode wallpapers that allow all of the 6 rainbow Apple logo-inspired stripes in the colourful wallpapers switch its foreground colour to black when Dark Mode is turned on. This does not include the black version and it is the first time that Apple retrofitted their previous wallpapers to an optimised version in Dark Mode. The original colours will appear when the iPhone is set to Light Mode. On the other hand, this is one of the greatest changes in this iOS beta, aside from the other 2 changes.

Second of all, the App Library in iOS 14 beta 7 now sorts all of the apps in specific categories and with concise names of the folders. This means that the apps are sorted by the categories of Social, Utilities, Productivity and Finance, Information and Reading, Creativity, Other, Health and Fitness, Shopping and Food, Entertainment, Travel, Games, TestFlight, Apple Arcade and Education. These folders are also categorised by how often the user uses these types of apps.

The last addition to the iOS 14 beta 7 is the bug fixes. The most critical issue is when users connected the AirPods to their iOS devices, the AirPods pairing message incorrectly displayed text with code in the previous iOS beta version. This update has patched the bug and should display the correct text when a user pairs their AirPods. Other than that, the signature duplication in Mail drafts no longer happens when a user reopens an email draft, and the location inaccuracies in the new Weather widget now updates its location more frequently.
