Apple Introduces iPhone 13 And iPhone 13 Mini: Smaller Notch, A15 Chip, And Improved Camera System

Apple today announced the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, a new generation of smartphones designed for low-mid budget users.
“Our customers rely on iPhone every day, which is why we’ve made iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini more powerful, more capable, and more fun to use,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Both phones have beautiful designs, industry-leading performance, and advanced camera systems with impressive computational photography features, all with incredible durability, water resistance, and a big jump in battery life to ensure customers can depend on their iPhone when they need it. All of this, tightly integrated with iOS 15 and with privacy built in, make iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini an unbeatable choice.”
The new iPhones have adopted a smaller notch, improved performance, and introduced more new features while maintaining the same size as the previous iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. Apple says the new ‌iPhone 13‌ and ‌iPhone 13 ‌mini adopt the flat edge design that everyone loves, as well as a durable exclusive super-ceramic panel and the industry's leading IP68 water resistance.

The notch on the top of the display of the new ‌iPhone 13‌ and ‌iPhone 13 ‌mini are smaller, allows a larger display space. Specifically, Apple said that it occupies 20% less space than before. The new ‌iPhone 13‌ and ‌iPhone 13‌ mini both use a more advanced Super Retina XDR display with a 28% increase in brightness, with a maximum brightness of 1200 nits. According to Apple, the True-Depth camera system on the front and everything including the Face ID have been redesigned to make room for new technologies and larger batteries.

Internally, ‌iPhone 13‌ and ‌iPhone 13 ‌mini come with a brand new A15 Bionic chip. Based on the 5nm process, the A15 Bionic chip has a six-core CPU, including two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. A new 16-core neural engine is embedded in the A15 Bionic chip, which can perform 15.8 trillion operations per second.

Both ‌iPhone 13‌ and ‌iPhone 13‌ mini are equipped with a new and more advanced dual-camera system. The 12-megapixel wide-angle camera can gather 47% more light, which brings less noise and higher-quality photo shooting. Apple said that this is by far the most advanced Dual-Camera System in iPhone.

In terms of video, Apple introduced the "Cinematic mode", which uses the powerful performance of the A15 to automatically blur the background in the video to keep the subject in focus. During the shooting process, the user can click on different themes to switch the focus.

Moreover, the new ‌iPhone 13‌ and ‌iPhone 13‌ mini also use custom antennas and radio components, allowing it to connect to the 5G network at the fastest speed in more places to deliver the best call quality and battery life.

Lastly, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will be available in pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED in a new entry-level capacity of 128GB for double the storage, as well as 256GB and 512GB capacities.
